VOTING STARTS FOR U.S. CELLULAR'S
BLACK HISTORY MONTH ART CONTEST
Residents Choose Winners by Voting for Their Favorite Portraits Created by Local Children in Feb.

ROANOKE, Va. -- Voting has started for U.S. Cellular’s Black History Month Art Contest in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia.  Club members were encouraged to research and learn more about African-American role models and their important contributions to society.  And then create and submit an original 8.5 x 11 portrait representing the figure of their choice using any art medium from any point in history, including present day.

The top 10 finalists’ entries were chosen by a panel from the Boys & Girls Club, and are displayed at local U.S. Cellular stores, where the public is invited to vote now through Feb. 28. The top three artists - as determined by the number of votes - will receive prizes (including a $500 gift card) and recognition at an upcoming U.S. Cellular event.
