Latest Apps Enable Goal Tracking for 100 Miles in 100 Days Program and More

If you recently signed up for the 100 Miles in 100 Days Program through the City of Hagerstown, or are trying to losing weight and get in shape in 2014, U.S. Cellular is offering free workshops that may be of interest to you. The company is offering free Device Workshops on Wed., Feb. 26,  and Wed., March 26, both from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. at the U.S. Cellular store located at 17163 Cole Rd. U.S. Cellular associates will help attendees learn about the latest apps that can help them log miles, track their fitness goals, and lose weight right on their mobile device such as the iPhone 5s or iPad Air. The workshops are open to new and existing smartphone and tablet users, and attendees do not have to be a U.S. Cellular customer.

Smartphones can be a great tool to help you meet your fitness goals. We’re here to help residents get the most out of their devices, so that each smartphone or tablet is set up to meet those individuals’ needs. It is just one of the ways we provide the best customer experience,” said Jack Brundige, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the Mid-South Region.

U.S. Cellular will cover these apps and more at the workshops:

Log your miles:  The Runtastic Pedometer counts every step you take - whether you’re walking, running, hiking or backpacking - to improve your general health and fitness, or as part of a specific diet and weight loss routine. This app works whether your device is in your pocket, hand, armband, bag or purse.  It can record speed, distance (miles or km) covered and step frequency. You can also see your last five activities on your phone and can share your progress via social media.

Get fit: MyFitnessPal can help you stick to your workout regimen and stay motivated as you improve your fitness and get in shape. The app helps you create personalized workout programs and delivers progress reports as you work towards your personal goals. It also has a database of more than 3 million foods to help monitor your caloric intake and daily diet. MyFitnessPal can also connect you to your friends so that you can encourage each other and provide extra motivation.

Improve your diet: Lose It! tracks your caloric intake and monitors your diet, helping you manage your weekly calorie budget and ensure that you are consuming the proper foods. It also integrates with sites such as Facebook and Twitter so you can stay updated on the progress your friends are making.

The iOS, Android™, Windows™ Phone and BlackBerry® options offered by U.S. Cellular enable customers to transform a smartphone to a device that meets their exact needs. These devices, such as the iPhone 5s and iPad Air, allow customers to enjoy faster web browsing and quick app downloads with access to 4G LTE speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G.

Please call 301.582.3418 for more information or to RSVP for the upcoming Device Workshops.
