U.S. Cellular Builds New Cell Tower in Morgantown Area

U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM) continues to invest in its high-speed 4G LTE network with a new cell tower in Westover. The site will increase U.S. Cellular’s coverage in the Westover area and parts of downtown Morgantown. It is one of more than 250 towers U.S. Cellular has built across the state.

“With 4G LTE speeds, you can quickly get what you want when you need it,” said Dana Dorcas, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the Mid-Atlantic. “We’re committed to delivering products and services that simplify and enhance our customers’ daily lives, and this new tower will help customers stay connected to friends and family.”

Customers enjoy faster web browsing and quick app downloads with access to 4G LTE speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G and similar to a cable Internet connection. 4G LTE speeds allow customers to begin watching a movie in seconds, enjoy smoother video streaming with little to no buffering and experience seamless video chatting with family or business colleagues.

With U.S. Cellular’s nationwide network, websites open faster and emails download more quickly on the company’s smartphone and mobile tablet lineup that includes the Samsung Galaxy Note™ 10.1 and the new Samsung Galaxy S® 4.

To select locations for new towers, U.S. Cellular has teams of system performance engineers who drive through the company’s network coverage area, sometimes hundreds of miles a day, to test the signal strength and call quality. U.S. Cellular also listens to customer feedback to help identify the communities that would benefit from another tower.
