U.S. Cellular Highlights Sofia Salon, Founder of The Longest Day Beckley WV Rock-a-Thon in Future of Good Program

U.S. Cellular today announced Sofia Salon of Daniels, founder of The Longest Day WV Beckley Rock-a-Thon supporting the West Virginia Alzheimer’s Association and Raleigh County Commission on Aging as one of 15 young humanitarians selected for the company’s 2017 The Future of Good program. The wireless carrier contributed $1,000 to Sofia Salon toward her Rock-a-Thon. This is part of a total of $42,000 consisting of in-kind and monetary contributions to help youth continue building The Future of Good.

Salon was selected for this program by U.S. Cellular following a nationwide search and is featured on TheFutureOfGood.com to tell the unique story of how her cause is impacting the local community.

“Alzheimer’s is a disease that impacts everyone. Many people shy away from family members that have Alzheimer’s but that is when they need them most. Families members can work together, learn what they can to provide the best care possible and this is one way to do that,” says Sofia Salon. “The Rock-a-Thon raises awareness for this cause and all of the money raised stays here in West Virginia.”

“Sofia’s passion and commitment to Alzheimer’s is truly inspiring,” said Brandi McCune, U.S. Cellular area sales manager. “She is setting an incredible example for her peers and community, and we are in awe of the selfless acts of good they’re doing here in West Virginia.”

In addition, from Nov. 28 through Dec. 31, West Virginia residents are encouraged to nominate additional youth who are making an impact by visiting TheFutureOfGood.com. The three winning young humanitarians will be announced on Jan. 19 and each will be rewarded with $1,000 to put toward their cause.
