Company Donates Backpacks Filled with Dental Supplies for 3,000 Plantation Elementary Students

PLANTATION, FL (Aug.18, 2014)—:DentalPlans, the largest dental savings plan marketplace, partnered with Plantation Elementary, Central Park Elementary, Mirror Lake Elementary and Plantation Park Elementary schools in Plantation, Florida to provide students with free backpacks filled with oral care products and oral hygiene information. Six :DentalPlans employees attended the Meet & Greet Day at Central Park and Mirror Lake Elementary schools, handing out the backpacks to students and talking to parents about the importance of oral hygiene. Backpacks were dropped off at Plantation Elementary and Plantation Park Elementary.

Headquartered in Plantation, :DentalPlans is reaching out to the local community to educate children on how important good oral hygiene is to your overall health and well-being. “Parents and schools play a significant role in a child’s dental care needs,” states Bill Chase, vp of marketing for :DentalPlans. “It’s never too early to talk with kids about their oral health or too late to shape healthy habits. Decay and periodontal disease are preventable and we hope to help parents and kids start off on the right foot.”

The :DentalPlans backpacks for students are filled with toothbrushes, toothbrush covers, floss, and an activity book for the students offering tips and facts about good oral hygiene. There is a Healthy Smiles Coloring Book to teach the steps to a healthy smile, an Origami Tooth Fairy Envelope, a Smile Word Search, and a Tooth Dress-Up. The dental-related games and crafts can also be downloaded at http://blog.dentalplans.com/dental-health-activities-for-kids.

According to the National Children’s Oral Health Foundation, tooth decay is the number one chronic childhood illness, and also the most easily preventable. Rampant decay can negatively impact a child’s overall quality of life, inhibit their cognitive and social development, and compromise their growth, function, and self-esteem. And an estimated 2.26 million school days are missed each year due to dental illness, along with 4.15 million workdays lost annually due to dental disease.

“We want parents and educators to know we are a resource for dental health,” adds Chase. “A big barrier for many families is the cost of dental care and lack of insurance. We want families to know that there is an alternative--dental savings plans can help your family gain access to dental care at up to 60 percent off what you would pay out of pocket.”

The benefits of a dental savings plan include savings up to 60 percent off what you would pay out-of-pocket or without a savings plan or insurance. Benefits also include no waiting to use your plan, no forms to file, no health restrictions, no limit on how often you can use your plan, and open enrollment all yearlong. Members pay a low annual fee for access to a network of participating dentists, who have agreed to charge less for their services for plan members. As a plan member you simply show your membership card when visiting any of the 140,000+ participating dentists (more than 75 percent of the practicing dentists in America) to receive dental procedures at a reduced price that’s up

to 10 to 60 percent off. Services may include annual cleanings, x-rays, crowns, root canals, and even cosmetic and orthodontic procedures, which are not typically covered by insurance.  And depending on the plan you choose, savings on vision and prescriptions are available as well.

“When it comes to dental care, we believe getting the right dental plan should give you peace of mind, not hassles or worry,” adds Chase. “With :DentalPlans you will rest easy knowing you are getting the best care for the lowest possible price. And more importantly, you will be keeping your and your family’s teeth healthy and smiling.”
