High-concept store offers unique customer experience, doubles store size

OAKLAND, MD (May 20, 2014) – Whether you prefer to call and text or you are a technology enthusiast who wants all the bells and whistles of a power-packed smartphone, U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM) encourages customers to visit its relocated store in Oakland at 13180 Garrett Highway.  To celebrate the opening, the store held a special ribbon cutting ceremony on May 14 with the Garrett County Chamber of Commerce.

“At U.S. Cellular, we treat our customers like neighbors not numbers, and our stores are designed with them in mind,” said Jack Brundige, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the Mid-South. “We’re thrilled to bring this high-concept store to Oakland. This new store is built with state-of-the-art features that make shopping an easy and enjoyable experience and is the perfect complement to our cutting-edge device lineup, 4G LTE speeds, and our industry leading rewards program.”

The highly experiential store has more than twice the square footage in the new showroom and features three phone bars designed to allow customers hands-on access to the latest devices and accessories. It has a lounge area for customers and U.S. Cellular associates to engage in a more comfortable shopping experience. Customers will be guided through the advanced features and functions on their new devices that keep them organized and enhance their lives. There is also an expanded service center with an on-site technician and additional work stations. The store employs 12 associates, features product information displays and interactive phone demonstration stations.

Customers can test out U.S. Cellular’s cutting-edge devices that include devices such as the iPhone 5s, iPad Air, or Samsung Galaxy S® 5™. Customers enjoy fast web browsing and quick app downloads with access to 4G LTE speeds that are up to 10 times faster than 3G.

The store is open from 9 am – 7 pm Monday through Friday, 10 am – 7 pm Saturday and noon – 5 pm Sunday. For more information, contact the store at 301.334.6460.

In addition, U.S. Cellular holds monthly device workshops to teach smartphone users how to get the most out of the features and functions of their devices. The workshops are free and open to the public (you don’t have to be a U.S. Cellular customer to attend).  The next workshop will be help on Tues., June 20, from 6 pm – 8 pm, and on Tues.
