COUPON CLIPPING GONE MOBILE
Smartphones can be used to make saving money simpler and easier
September is National
Coupon Month, and while Juniper Research reports that only about one percent of
all print coupons issued are ever redeemed, mobile coupon redemption rates are
10 times higher, a clear indication that mobile access to coupons makes it
easier than ever to save. Coupons often go unused because they are forgotten or
lost, but with smartphones savings can be stored and available at a moment’s
notice.
According to a recent
survey¹, 39 percent of U.S. Cellular (NYSE: USM) smartphone users said they use
their mobile device for shopping and of those, 54 percent regularly use it to
find and use coupons.
One popular app that mobile
couponers use is The Coupons App,
which gives users real-time coupons and deals each day for nearby places.
Download this free app from the Google Play Store and get regular updates on
the best coupons in your area right on your device with U.S. Cellular’s
high-speed network. As an added savings bonus, the app also locates the lowest
gas prices near you.
“Nearly 70 percent of our
customers polled said they don’t use their phones to their full potential, and
using them to save and manage coupons is an easy way get more out of your
device,” said Dana Dorcas, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the
Mid-Atlantic. “It’s just one of the many ways smartphone users can make their
lives simpler and easier.”
SnipSnap, is another nifty coupon app that will ensure that you never leave your
coupons behind or let them expire. With this app, use a smartphone, like the
Samsung GALAXY S® 4, to simply take a photograph of the coupon. Once
you snap a picture of the deal, it will store the coupon on your device and will
even send expiration date alerts to ensure you don’t miss out on savings. If
you don’t have any coupons lying around to scan, you can search coupons your
friends and family have snipped by using the Discovery feature on the app,
which connects you to your contacts that also use SnipSnap.
Another advantage of mobile
couponing is the space it frees up in your wallet, and you can streamline your
wallet even more with the Key Ring App.
Key Ring allows users to scan barcodes on loyalty cards, membership cards and
coupons in order to save them on their devices.
Instead of missing out on rewards points while out shopping, all of your
cards and coupons can be kept organized and in the palm of your hand.
“Families are already
relying on technology in their daily lives, and U.S. Cellular is pleased to provide tips, tricks and tools to help
people use this technology to fit their needs, save money and enjoy better
moments with family and friends,” Dorcas said.
