Company to
provide wireless safety tips, demo Family Protector app on-site
WILKESBORO, N.C. (July 15, 2013) – U.S. Cellular has
partnered with the Wilkesboro Fire and Police Departments to hold a free Safety
Day for area residents on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the
retail store located at 1809 US Highway 421.
At this event, U.S.
Cellular will provide free hot dogs and beverages, face painting, games and
educational opportunities for children of all ages, temporary tattoos and the
opportunity to take pictures with U.S. Cellular’s giant cellphone, Cellby. In
addition, during select times: the Wilkesboro Police Department will
be doing car seat checks from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., and the Wilkesboro Fire
Department will be conducting Fire Truck tours from 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. In
addition, U.S. Cellular will provide safety tips and demonstrate some of the
latest apps and technologies to help give families peace of mind.
Families are already relying on technology
in their daily lives and U.S. Cellular is providing tools, such as the Family
Protector app, to help people use this technology to enjoy Better Moments with
family. Parents see great value in giving their children their first cell
phone. In fact, 85 percent of parents say being prepared for emergency
communications is a deciding factor to purchase a phone.
“Whether at home or on-the-go, families are
using mobile devices to make their lives easier, more efficient and meaningful,” said Dana
Dorcas, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in the Mid-Atlantic. “However, parents can’t always be looking over their kids’
shoulders to monitor their smartphone usage. This way, parents can lay the
ground rules and Family Protector can enforce them.”
